The official visit of the President of the Republic of Finland, Alexander Stubb, to the Republic of Uzbekistan marks a new stage in strengthening the relations of friendship and strategic partnership between our countries.

At the invitation of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President Alexander Stubb is paying an official visit to our country from October 29 to November 1. This visit is regarded as an important historic event in the history of Uzbekistan–Finland relations and aims to enrich bilateral cooperation with new content and tangible results.

As part of his visit, on October 30, President Alexander Stubb of Finland visited the Nordic International University in Tashkent. The high-ranking guest was warmly welcomed by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the university administration, the Honorary Consul of Finland in Uzbekistan, the Chairman of the University Board of Trustees Alisher Juraev, and the academic community.

The President was introduced to the Carl Gustaf Mannerheim historical photo exhibition, presented to the university by the Government of Finland, and a high-level meeting was held.

In addition, a presentation of the “Nordic EdTech & Innovation HUB” model took place. During the meeting, President Stubb expressed his satisfaction with the efforts made to strengthen the integration of education, science, and industry in Uzbekistan based on the Finnish and Nordic educational models. He also noted the progress in developing joint academic programs, dual-degree projects, and academic exchange initiatives with Finnish higher education institutions, as well as the expansion of the Work & Travel Finland program and gradual increase in student quotas.

It was emphasized that regular internships for Uzbek teachers in Finnish preschools, schools, and higher education institutions every two months, along with the organization of business forums, innovation summits, and international academic conferences in cooperation with Nordic countries, are becoming key drivers of progress in these areas.

In a friendly and sincere atmosphere, the Nordic International University expressed its commitment to further expanding the practical areas of mutual cooperation and implementing new promising initiatives in this direction.

В Международном университете Нордик состоялась встреча с Чрезвычайным и Полномочным Послом Республики Узбекистан в Венгрии, Хорватии и Сербии Ойбеком Шахавдиновым.

Во время мероприятия состоялся искренний и содержательный диалог между руководством университета и послом. В ходе беседы обсуждались перспективы сотрудничества в области науки и образования с европейскими странами, в частности с Венгрией, Хорватией и Сербией.

После этого для студентов Нордика состоялась научно-аналитическая встреча, призванная способствовать расширению их мировоззрения, глобальной грамотности и активности. Была заслушана интересная и практически значимая лекция посла Республики на тему «Узбекистан и Европейский Союз: отношения и роль Венгрии, Словении и Хорватии в этом процессе».

Была предоставлена обширная информация о текущем этапе сотрудничества Узбекистана с европейским союзом, стратегическом значении стран Центральной Европы для Узбекистана, возможностях в сфере образования, дипломатии и инвестиций. Для студентов были освещены такие аспекты, как программы обучения и стажировки в Европе, богатые аналитическими данными и фактами.

Учащиеся имели возможность принять участие в открытом диалоге с послом, задать вопросы и получить практические советы. В ходе встречи особое внимание уделялось формированию у молодежи глобального мышления, дипломатического видения и культуры.

Дипломатическая деятельность и научный потенциал являются достойным уважения сочетанием. В ходе встречи руководство особо отметило активное участие посла Ойбека Шахавдинова в налаживании международного образовательного сотрудничества в Международном университете Нордик, его значительный вклад в совершенствование образовательных исследований, становление университета как международного учебного заведения и процессы его развития.

За активную работу по укреплению организационного и дипломатического взаимодействия, а также за инициативы по интеграции в европейское образовательное пространство, послу Ойбеку Шахавдинову было присвоено звание «Почётного профессора Международного университета Нордик».

Этот почётный титул стал ещё одним подтверждением политики университета, направленной на расширение международного научного обмена и сотрудничества с экспертами и дипломатами мирового уровня.

Official Opening of the Rowan University Center at the Nordic International University press-release

On October 25, 2025, the official opening ceremony of the Rowan University Center was held at the Nordic International University.

The Center was established in line with the instructions of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to develop the higher education system based on international standards, expand cooperation with prestigious foreign universities, and improve the quality of personnel training.

Organized in partnership with the prestigious Rowan University (USA) (https://www.rowan.edu/), the opening ceremony was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, the Ministry of Preschool and School Education, the Republican Scientific-Methodological Center for Education Development, officials from the U.S. Embassy, the leadership of Rowan and Nordic Universities, academics, members of parliament, media representatives, and the general public.

Rowan University, located in New Jersey, USA, is a dynamic public institution known for its innovative approach and has recently been recognized in U.S. rankings as one of the “fastest-growing universities.”

During the ceremony, the symbolic ribbon was cut by Dr. Ali Houshmand, President of Rowan University, an internationally renowned scholar and reform-oriented leader; Kungratboy Sharipov, Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation; Ezokhon Karimova, Minister of Preschool and School Education; and the leadership of Nordic University.

Opening the event, Professor Sherzod Mustafakulov, Rector of the Nordic International University, emphasized that the establishment of this center represents not only an achievement for Nordic University but also a new milestone for Uzbekistan in the field of international education. He highlighted that the new center will bring new opportunities, ideas, and open the doors of global education for the youth.

Minister Kungratboy Sharipov noted that this day marks a historic and proud moment for higher education in Uzbekistan, stating:

“We express our deep gratitude to the leadership and team of the Nordic International University and Rowan University, as well as to all specialists who actively participated in implementing this project. I am confident that the Rowan University Center will play a vital role in preparing innovative, globally competitive professionals in our country. It will give new impetus not only to students but also to our entire education system.”

Minister Ezokhon Karimova emphasized that this cooperation will elevate educational relations between the two nations to a new level.

“The collaboration between Rowan University and the Nordic International University symbolizes the exchange of knowledge, innovation, and international experience. Together, we aim to provide students with globally competitive education,” said Dr. Ali Houshmand during his speech.

Dr. Houshmand was also awarded the honorary title of “Honorary Professor” of the Nordic International University.

Alisher Juraev, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Nordic International University and Honorary Consul of Finland in Uzbekistan, noted that the Rowan University Center will offer educational programs aligned with U.S. academic standards for Uzbek and international students, as well as joint scientific projects, student and faculty exchange programs.

Distinguished guests highlighted that the establishment of the Rowan University Center is a significant step toward strengthening international higher education ties, integrating education and innovation, and aligning the training of professionals in pedagogy, engineering, IT, and medicine with global standards.

Within the framework of the Center’s activities, joint educational and research programs involving U.S. and Uzbek faculty will be launched. Joint undergraduate, master’s, and professional development programs will be effectively implemented. The center will also host academic seminars, training sessions, and enable students to enhance their qualifications through distance learning and international certification programs.

Participants also toured the new center building and discussed future prospects for strategic cooperation between the two universities. The event concluded with friendly conversations over tea accompanied by music.

The opening of the Center not only strengthens educational cooperation between the two countries but also contributes to expanding the model of strategic partnership with foreign educational institutions in Uzbekistan. Moreover, the Center will serve as a foundation for establishing international research centers, joint laboratories, and dual-degree programs within the Nordic University.

“E voh-2025”: Talented Teachers Gathered at Nordic

The final stage of the Erkin Vohidov “E voh” Uzbek Language and Literature Olympiad is being held at the Nordic International University.

For the first time, the “E voh” Olympiad has been organized in honor of October 21 — Uzbek Language Day, bringing together 10,507 teachers from across the republic.

The top 79 winners of the first stage have arrived to participate in the final round.

This Olympiad has become a true example of devotion and love for the Uzbek language. Teachers from all over the country — passionate about knowledge, eager to instill the beauty of their mother tongue in the hearts of the young generation, and open to innovation — are proudly taking part in this event.

At the opening, Professor Sherzod Mustafakulov, Rector of Nordic University, emphasized that this scholarly and educational initiative is not only a test of professional knowledge and competence, but also a significant platform that strengthens national pride and love for the mother tongue. He noted that the teachers’ participation today is more than just a competition — it is also a valuable contribution to the development of science and education in our country. All participants were wished success, great results, and bright victories.

The contestants were introduced to the Olympiad’s rules and evaluation criteria, and their essay-writing skills are being tested.

After the tests, participants will take part in academic discussions, visit the Alley of Scholars, and enjoy cultural and literary meetings as well as a festival dedicated to Uzbek Language Day at the Green Hills Resort mountain complex.

In the Olympiad, 1 gold, 3 silver, and 5 bronze medalists will be announced. Winners will also receive cash prizes, souvenirs, and international training opportunities in Finland and Sweden, which will be awarded in a ceremonial event.

Пресс-релиз Конференции на тему «Перспективы развития педагогического образования в эпоху цифровой трансформации», прошедшей в Международном университете Нордик

15-16 октября 2025 года в Международном университете Нордик в сотрудничестве с Министерством высшего образования, науки и инноваций прошла международная научно-практическая конференция на тему «Перспективы развития педагогического образования в эпоху цифровой трансформации».

Конференция была посвящена вопросам внедрения инновационных подходов в сфере образования, цифровизации педагогических процессов и гармонизации глобального опыта с национальной практикой.

Данная конференция была проведена в рамках реализации постановления Президента Республики Узбекистан «О мерах по повышению качества педагогического образования и дальнейшему развитию деятельности высших учебных заведений, готовящих педагогические кадры», а также задач, определенных в документе № PQ – 289.

Целью конференции стало научно обоснованное исследование путей модернизации системы педагогического образования в процессе цифровой трансформации, внедрения в практику принципов искусственного интеллекта, инновационных технологий, инклюзивных подходов и устойчивого развития.

В мероприятии приняли участие ученые, научные сотрудники, педагоги-практики и докторанты ведущих высших учебных заведений Узбекистана, Финляндии, Южной Кореи, Турции, Казахстана, России и других стран.

Выступившие на открытии конференции особо отметили, что гармония человеческого фактора и цифровых технологий в современной педагогической системе является одним из важнейших факторов повышения качества обучения. В частности, было подчеркнуто, что прозрачность и результативность образовательного процесса могут быть обеспечены путем внедрения цифровых платформ, адаптивных систем обучения и средств оценки на основе искусственного интеллекта на всех этапах – от дошкольного образования до высшего.

В рамках конференции функционировали пять научных секций:

➖ Качественное образование – гарантия устойчивого развития: зарубежный опыт и отечественная практика;

➖ Трансформация искусственного интеллекта и человеческих отношений: достижения личности и перспективы развития;

➖ От инклюзивного образования к инклюзивному обществу: стратегии, опыт и современные образовательные технологии;

➖ Использование цифровых технологий в дошкольном образовании: стратегические подходы и инновации;

➖ Актуальные проблемы и решения в обучении языку и литературе.

Участники широко обсудили роль личности учителя в условиях цифровой трансформации, современные модели развития педагогических компетенций, а также вопросы эффективного использования искусственного интеллекта и цифровых инструментов в образовательном процессе.

Научные статьи, представленные в рамках конференции, будут индексироваться в Google Scholar и международных научных базах, а также получат DOI. Это имеет важное значение для признания результатов исследований ученых мировым научным сообществом.

Кроме того, планируется подписание новых меморандумов о сотрудничестве между Международным университетом Нордик и высшими учебными заведениями Финляндии, Швеции, Южной Кореи и Турции. Данные соглашения послужат повышению качества педагогического образования, повышению квалификации профессорско-преподавательского состава и расширению программ обмена студентами. По итогам конференции участниками был предложен ряд рекомендаций. В частности, среди них – усиление системы переподготовки учителей по повышению цифровой грамотности в педагогическом образовании, разработка норм использования искусственного интеллекта в образовательном процессе, согласование учебных программ с требованиями современного рынка труда, поддержка инклюзивного образования посредством цифровой инфраструктуры, системное изучение международного опыта в образовании и его адаптация к национальной практике.

Международный университет Нордик уделяет особое внимание внедрению цифровых решений в образовании, стимулированию творчества и инновационного мышления, а также ориентации на международные стандарты при подготовке педагогических кадров. Данная конференция стала логическим продолжением стратегических инициатив в этом направлении.

По итогам мероприятия был опубликован сборник статей, составленный на основе научно-практических разработок, в электронном виде, а всем участникам были вручены сертификаты.

Nordic International University “Orientation Week” press release

To mark the beginning of the new academic year, Nordic University held a rich and engaging program, “Orientation Week,” for first-year students from September 15–18.

During this week, each new student stepping into the Nordic family was warmly welcomed and introduced to the university’s values, educational system, the importance of independent learning, and the secrets of student life.

On the first day, September 15, the opening ceremony took place in the “Jasorat” Recreation Park of Military Glory. Students were greeted with live music.

The National Anthem of our Motherland was performed. The harmonious sounds of the military orchestra, the ceremonial march of the honor guard, and the heartfelt speeches of the university’s rector, Sherzod Mustafakulov, along with esteemed guests, left unforgettable impressions on the students’ hearts. The new students, including those awarded university grants, shared their sincere words of gratitude.

The festive program continued with friendly conversations and a campus tour. In their classrooms, new students gathered in groups and were given detailed information about the university’s rules of conduct, the corporate code of ethics, and the credit-module system of the educational process.

Throughout the week, a “University Tour,” exhibitions, a student clubs fair, and special photo zones were organized. All activities focused on helping students adapt practically to university life.

The Pizza Party created a warm and friendly atmosphere among students. They actively participated in social-psychological trainings, tutor sessions, and practical exercises on using the HEMIS system. These activities helped create a friendly environment within the groups.

Additionally, the program featured sessions on the “Work and Travel” program, intellectual games, and interactive discussions on reading books.

On September 18, within the framework of “Orientation Week,” an unforgettable celebration was organized for students. At the statue of Alisher Navoi in the Writers’ Alley, students took part in cultural and entertainment events. The “Squid Game” competition brought them into exciting contests and debates, making the atmosphere even livelier.

The academic year began for students with a memorable “Freshman Party” full of music, dance, games, and competitions. The event was made even more vibrant with the cheerful musical sets of DJ Bella.

At Nordic, every new student was at the center of attention. The university strives to provide its students with a strong source of knowledge, a creative environment, and a wide field of opportunities. “Orientation Week” is one of the first steps on this path—a good tradition that promises young people education, friendship, and reliable companionship toward the future, strengthening their sense of community.

One of the most significant days in the lives of the bachelor’s and master’s graduates of Nordic International University – the graduation evening and diploma awarding ceremony – was held.

The event began in a grand and festive atmosphere. The heroes of the evening – the graduates – proudly took their seats at the celebration. Their teachers, parents, and loved ones also attended, filled with joy, pride, and gratitude.

A video clip reflecting student life brought bright moments to life and gave everyone a festive mood and wonderful impressions.

The national anthem was played during the ceremonial part of the event.

Next, the hosts of the event invited Sherzod Mustafakulov, Rector of Nordic International University, and Sirojiddin Sayyid, Chairman of the Writers’ Union of Uzbekistan and People’s Poet of Uzbekistan, a prominent figure in modern Uzbek poetry, to deliver their congratulatory speeches. They emphasized that knowledge, dedication, and hard work are the greatest assets of the graduates. Sincere wishes were extended to the students, who are ready to contribute to the prosperity of our nation as modern thinkers. Their future scientific and professional achievements were wished success, with a deep belief that today’s graduates will become tomorrow’s leaders and builders of society.

Swedish delegation at NIU: A key meeting on the path to education and industry integration

The Nordic International University welcomed another prestigious group of international guests. As part of their visit to Uzbekistan, a delegation led by Camilla Mellander, Director General of the Trade Policy Department of the Swedish MFA, visited the Nordic International University. The meeting brought together representatives from the Ministry of Investments, Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Mining and Geology of the Republic of Uzbekistan, who accompanied the delegation, and the NIU leadership for a warm and constructive dialogue.

The delegation included executives and managers from leading Swedish industrial companies such as EOL Vent Mining, Sandvik, Epiroc, Scania, SKF, Ericsson, and Atlas Copco – well-known for their innovative solutions in mining, mechanical engineering, information technology, and energy sectors.

The discussion focused on strengthening bilateral relations and laying the foundations for innovative collaboration in education and industry.

During the visit, the guests were introduced to the university’s infrastructure, research activities, and international projects. The meeting addressed pressing topics such as integration of education and industry, student internships, joint scientific projects, establishment of collaborative incubation centers, and training of sector-specific professionals. Agreements were reached on several fronts.

The Nordic International University’s strategy to enhance international cooperation aims to establish a modern, competitive, and practice-oriented education system in collaboration with advanced countries like Sweden.

From May 18 to 21 of this year, the final stage of the important competition for talented young students in mathematics — "TasIMO-2025" Tashkent International Mathematics Olympiad — was held at the Nordic International University in Tashkent city. The Olympiad covered 4-day scientific and cultural activities, providing participants with rich experience and unforgettable impressions. It gathered young people who influence the entire field of science on the testing ground.

The Olympiad was organized in our country with the goal of nurturing talented, creative, and morally mature youth — true patriots — through education, science, and culture. This initiative was organized by the Nordic International University and the IDC Education Center, in cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, Ministry of Preschool and School Education, the Children’s Ombudsman of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the World Bank, UNICEF international organization, Rowan University (USA), Karelia University of Applied Sciences (Finland), the newspapers "Xalq So’zi" and "Narodnoe Slovo", and UzReport TV.

On May 17, talented students studying in grades 3 to 11 from Uzbekistan and foreign countries, who received invitations to the Olympiad final, along with their parents and teachers, were warmly welcomed by the Nordic University volunteer group and the TasIMO team. In particular, during the first online stage, the knowledge of 500,000 young mathematicians across the country was tested. In the second offline stage, out of 2,983 participants from 14 regions, 150 students were selected for the final stage. Additionally, among 850 talented students from 48 foreign countries, 242 were recommended for the final stage. According to the recommendations of the “TasIMO-2024” medalists and the Olympiad committee, national teams participating in prestigious international Olympiads were also given the opportunity to directly participate in this year’s final. All finalists who arrived at the Olympiad were presented with special clothing bearing the TasIMO emblem and souvenirs.

On May 18, a ceremonious opening of the internationally significant scientific festival — the final stage of “TasIMO-2025” international Olympiad — was held at the Nordic International University campus. 

The NIU rector, doctor of economics, professor Sherzod Mustafakulov, opened the historic event, which symbolizes dedication to science, mutual friendship, and equal opportunities. It was proudly emphasized that TasIMO is one of the most noble initiatives inspiring and supporting the young generation; it is essential for the future of our society. Through social, scientific, and cultural events, advanced experiences into our country’s education system will be introduced, scientific and educational effectiveness will be enhanced, the success of youth will be supported. Selecting mature knowledge holders, and mobilizing their talents for the development of society in the future are among the TasIMO values and goals.

Following this, the official start of the knowledge competition aimed at guiding youth toward science and contributing to the education of a great generation was announced. Participants were divided into groups and directed to their respective auditoriums.
