A private university, operating based on the Finnish education model, has opened in Uzbekistan

The International Nordic University has started its work as a private educational institution in Tashkent city. This was reported by the State Inspectorate for Quality Control of Education.

It is noted that the university has been granted a license by the Education Inspectorate to provide private higher education services.

Several organizations have expressed their readiness to cooperate with the university, including Karelia University of Applied Sciences (Finland), Helsingin Suomalainen Yhteiskoulu (SYK) general education school, the multinational corporation Nokia, the Finnish Water Forum, and the company ISKU.

Based on the Finnish educational model, the university will begin training specialists in the following areas starting from the 2022/2023 academic year:

  • Economics (by sectors and industries),
  • Finance and financial technologies,
  • TU BA (Hons) International Business,
  • BU BSc (Hons) Industrial Management,
  • Primary Education,
  • Preschool Education,
  • Foreign Languages and Literature (by languages),
  • Computer Engineering (Computer Engineering, IT Service, Information Security, Multimedia Technologies).

The educational process will be carried out based on the 2+2 and 3+1 programs agreed upon with Karelia University of Applied Sciences.

The International Nordic University plans to offer the following opportunities to its students:

  • Summer internships in Northern European countries, especially in Finland, as well as Work and Travel programs across all study areas;
  • Internships in Finnish companies such as Nokia, Karelia University of Applied Sciences, Helsingin Suomalainen Yhteiskoulu (SYK), Finnish Water Forum, and ISKU;
  • In-depth Finnish language courses for all study programs, taught by Finnish teachers;
  • Opportunities for successful undergraduate students (with a high GPA) to pursue a master's degree in Finland on preferential terms.

In the new academic year, the potential of the university community at Nordic will be united under this title, laying the foundation for the university’s unique path of advancement.
