Throughout the history of every nation, there are individuals whose lifelong dedication enriches not only the present but also shapes the intellectual and spiritual outlook of future generations.

Their lives become enduring symbols of selfless service, enlightenment, and unwavering devotion to their homeland. One such distinguished figure is O‘tkir Rahmat—an Honored Journalist of Uzbekistan, recipient of the Order of Mehnat Shuhrati (Labour Glory) and the Shuhrat Medal, laureate of the International Cholpon Prize, an acclaimed writer, publicist, public figure, and Editor-in-Chief of the newspapers Xalq So‘zi and Narodnoye Slovo.

In recognition of his remarkable contribution to the development of national journalism, literature, spirituality, and youth education, Nordik International University conferred upon the eminent writer the academic title of Honorary Professor. The award stands as a testament to his decades of dedicated service and invaluable contribution to Uzbekistan's intellectual and cultural life.

The ceremony featured a comprehensive exhibition of O‘tkir Rahmat's literary works, the presentation of his latest book, A Heart Dedicated to the People, as well as a creative meeting and literary dialogue attended by scholars, students, and distinguished guests.

Participants reflected extensively on the writer's multifaceted creative legacy, his rich contribution to Uzbek literature, and a lifetime devoted to serving the interests of the people.

Born on 15 March 1948 in the village of Uzun, Samarkand Region, O‘tkir Rahmat developed from an early age a profound love for language, unwavering patriotism, and deep empathy for the aspirations and concerns of ordinary people. These qualities ultimately established him as one of the leading representatives of contemporary Uzbek journalism and literature.

Having graduated from Samarkand State University named after Alisher Navoi and the Tashkent State Institute of Law, he began his professional career in journalism in 1974. Throughout his distinguished career, he served in the Presidential Administration, prestigious government institutions, and the country's leading media organizations, occupying numerous responsible positions.

During the years of Uzbekistan's independence, his publicistic writings evolved into a unique spiritual chronicle of the nation's development. As Editor-in-Chief, he transformed newspaper pages into more than just sources of information—they became an influential platform for open dialogue between the state and society, fostering public discourse, civic awareness, and intellectual engagement.

O‘tkir Rahmat's literary heritage represents a remarkable synthesis of poetry, publicism, and prose. His works consistently explore such timeless themes as human dignity, patriotism, spirituality, kindness, and national identity. His numerous books—including Irmoq, Sog‘inch, Jilg‘a, Rayhon Hidi, Shukrona, Oy Yog‘dusi, Ko‘zim Qorachug‘i, Xayol Ifori, Yurakdagi Qush, Xoksor Maysa, Dilchiroq, Mangu Ovoz, Taskin, O‘tli Ruh, and Yillar Oralab—have earned a cherished place in the hearts of readers.

Literary scholars often describe him as "a painter of the human soul." Through vivid depictions of nature, he reveals the essence of humanity, and through the individual, he offers profound reflections on society itself.

During the event, university professors, faculty members, and invited guests emphasized that O‘tkir Rahmat has earned the enduring trust of the people and the sincere admiration of generations of readers. His poems were recited, while many of his verses that have been transformed into songs were performed live.

The ceremony also included the premiere of a documentary film dedicated to the writer's life and creative journey, a book exhibition, an engaging literary discussion, and the official presentation of his new publication, A Heart Dedicated to the People.

The book is both a reflection of an era and a testimony of conscience. Drawing upon decades of personal experience, journalistic observation, and civic responsibility, the author presents a compelling artistic interpretation of contemporary Uzbekistan. Through vivid examples and thoughtful analysis, the work explores the essence of the country's ongoing reforms, the promotion of human dignity, public welfare, spiritual development, and the strengthening of trust between the state and society.

Employing a clear, accessible, and engaging style, the author interprets complex political and social processes in a manner that not only informs readers but also encourages critical thinking, independent judgment, and an active civic mindset.

For this reason, the publication represents not only a work of literary journalism but also one of the significant sources reflecting the spiritual essence of New Uzbekistan's ongoing development.
The meeting with O‘tkir Rahmat became far more than a ceremonial occasion honoring an outstanding writer. It evolved into an inspiring dialogue celebrating a lifetime devoted to public service, responsibility before the written word, and unwavering commitment to enlightenment.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, in accordance with the resolution of the University Council, O‘tkir Rahmat was officially awarded the academic title of Honorary Professor.

University Rector, Professor Sherzod Mustafakulov, together with Academician Bakhriddin Zaripov, warmly congratulated the distinguished writer and highly praised his exceptional contribution to the advancement of Uzbekistan's national journalism, literature, and spiritual life.

The ceremony concluded with the honored guest leaving his heartfelt wishes and reflections in the University's commemorative guest book, Dil Izhori (Expressions of the Heart), as a lasting symbol of friendship, respect, and intellectual partnership.
