Taking place from 7 to 9 September, the three-day programme is designed to familiarise first-year students with Nordic’s academic environment, university culture, digital and international opportunities, as well as student life.
The first step into university life began on a truly celebratory note. Today, 7 September, marked the beginning of a new chapter for 2,500 young people, as they officially joined the university community and embarked on their higher education journey.
The International Nordic University community welcomed the new students in a warm and uplifting atmosphere. The official opening ceremony of Orientation Week was held at the Military Glory — Park of Courage.
The ceremony opened with the National Anthem of the Republic of Uzbekistan. For thousands of young people, this moment provided a meaningful opportunity to begin their first day of university with a strong sense of patriotism, belonging to their country, and responsibility towards the future.
The ceremony thus represented not only the formal beginning of university life, but also an important emotional and spiritual step into a new stage of personal development.
Sherzod Mustafakulov, Rector of International Nordic University and Professor, warmly congratulated the young people on becoming university students.
In his address, the Rector emphasised that the student years represent one of the most important and opportunity-rich stages of a person’s life. He encouraged students to make the most of every opportunity offered by the university, while going beyond acquiring knowledge to pursue research, demonstrate initiative, develop independent thinking, and continuously invest in their personal and professional growth.
At a modern university, a student is not merely a recipient of ready-made knowledge, but an active individual who takes responsibility for shaping their own educational journey. In this regard, students were encouraged to make the most of their university years, acquire new knowledge and competencies, and actively engage in university life — all of which will contribute to their future success.
The Rector’s address served not only as a message of sincere congratulations and good wishes, but also as an inspiring call for the new students to make their years at university meaningful, seize every opportunity, and confidently pursue ambitious goals.
Alisher Mahmudov, Doctor of Law and Professor, also congratulated the young people embarking on this new stage of their lives. He emphasised the importance of taking an active role in the educational process, assuming responsibility for their academic performance, and consciously shaping their future professional pathways.
The ceremonial programme continued with musical performances by the “Nordic Taronasi” ensemble.
The combination of music, the students’ enthusiasm, and the celebratory atmosphere created memorable moments for the new members of the university community.
Following the ceremony, the first day of Orientation Week featured a range of interactive activities aimed at helping students get to know one another, build connections across different fields of study, and foster a welcoming and friendly community.
Activities such as Pizza Party, UNO, MAFIA, and GUESS WHO encouraged students to communicate more freely, adapt to their new community, and make new friends.
The Orientation Week programme will continue on 8–9 September with further introductory and student integration activities designed to help newcomers feel more confident and connected within the Nordic community.
