The defense of master’s theses at Nordic International University is continuing in line with the principles of scientific rigor, innovation, and practical relevance.

The presentations demonstrate not only the graduates’ strong theoretical foundations in their respective fields but also their ability to develop effective solutions to contemporary challenges through research-based approaches.

At the Department of Industrial Management and Digital Technologies, master’s students in the Data Science program presented research projects addressing some of the most significant priorities of today’s digital economy. The studies focused on the application of artificial intelligence technologies, data-driven decision-making based on Big Data, business process optimization, digital transformation of education, and innovative solutions in logistics and financial analytics.

Among the most notable projects were systems for automated monitoring and analysis of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in higher education institutions, data-driven forecasting models for university admissions, optimization models for corporate revenues and expenditures, financial statement analysis of legal entities using Data Science methodologies, sales forecasting systems, and predictive models for freight flow management in logistics networks.

Particularly noteworthy is the fact that several theses resulted in the development of software platforms, analytical dashboards, and intelligent management systems with strong potential for implementation in both educational institutions and the real sector of the economy. These achievements reflect the university’s ongoing commitment to strengthening the integration of science, technology, and industry.

Master’s students from the Department of Social Sciences and Journalism also successfully defended research dedicated to pressing issues in today’s media landscape.

Their studies explored a wide range of topics, including media coverage of parliamentary activities in Uzbekistan, the role of information and communication technologies in advancing regional integration processes in Central Asia, technologies for shaping political leaders’ public image, ethical standards in media content involving children, and strategies for building and strengthening the image of the Armed Forces through military journalism.

“Nordic University has successfully completed the thesis defenses of its first cohort of master’s students in Journalism. Over the course of two days, our aspiring journalists confidently defended their research in the fields of travel journalism, educational journalism, political leadership image-building, and cooperation among Turkic states. Their work was highly evaluated and awarded excellent and good grades,” said Yulduz Ortiqova, a faculty member of the department.

“Throughout the supervision process, I endeavored to share all my knowledge and professional experience with them. I sincerely hope that the education and intellectual foundation they have gained will illuminate their future careers and lives. I am proud of each of them.”

The scientific findings and practical recommendations developed by the graduates hold substantial value for enhancing media performance, improving the effectiveness of information policy, and strengthening professional standards within contemporary journalism. The successful defenses further highlight the growing research capacity of Nordic International University and its contribution to addressing real-world challenges through academic excellence and innovation.

Youth, Migration and Legal Protection: Meaningful Dialogue Marking the 10th Anniversary of the MRC

The event was jointly organized by the Migrant Resource Centre (MRC), the Children’s Ombudsman of Uzbekistan, the International Nordic University, and the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD).

The forum focused on promoting a culture of safe migration among young people, while raising awareness of the risks associated with irregular migration, human trafficking, fraud, and labour exploitation. Addressing the participants, Sattor Rahmatov, Head of the Children’s Ombudsman Sector, Rahmatulla Nurimbetov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Kingdoms of Sweden, Norway and Denmark, Professor Sherzod Mustafakulov, Rector of the International Nordic University, along with leading experts, emphasized the growing importance of legal awareness, access to reliable information, and informed decision-making for young people pursuing education or employment opportunities abroad in today’s increasingly globalized world.

Representatives of the MRC presented an overview of the Centre’s decade-long activities, highlighting safe migration planning mechanisms and available advisory services. Experts from the NGO “Istiqbolli Avlod” delivered presentations aimed at increasing awareness of irregular migration, deceptive job offers, and the threats posed by human trafficking networks.

During interactive sessions, students analysed real-life migration scenarios and employment offers, strengthening their ability to identify potential risks and make informed choices. Dedicated digital safety workshops also explored methods for recognizing fraudulent online advertisements, verifying information sources, and protecting oneself from online scams circulating through social media platforms.

The final assessment demonstrated a significant increase in participants’ knowledge and awareness regarding migration, children’s rights, and personal safety. The event contributed to enhancing legal literacy, fostering safe migration competencies, and encouraging a culture of responsible decision-making among young people.

The forum was organized within the framework of the MRC’s 10th anniversary and aligned with the objectives of the “PROTECT – Improving Migration Management and Migrant Protection in the Silk Routes Countries and Central Asia” project, implemented by ICMPD with the support of the European Union. The initiative aims to strengthen the protection of youth rights, promote safe, orderly and regular migration, and enhance cooperation among public institutions, educational organizations, and civil society actors in addressing contemporary migration challenges.
