At Nordic International University, a masterclass was organised for second-year students specialising in Journalism as part of the Contemporary International Media Landscape course. The session focused on the topic “The Role of Japanese Media in the Contemporary Global Media Landscape.”
The masterclass was led by Aziza Khalilova, PhD in Philology and a specialist in international journalism and the Japanese language.
The session explored Japan’s transnational media corporations, television industry practices, media concentration, and the influence of Japanese popular culture on the global information space.
Particular emphasis was placed on examining how national media practices evolve into instruments of global influence. The session enabled aspiring media professionals to deepen their understanding of international media dynamics, conduct comparative analyses of different media models, and develop a more critical perspective on today’s rapidly evolving information environment.
