In accordance with the decision of the International Nordic University Council dated July 1, 2026, O‘tkir Rahmat, Editor-in-Chief of the newspapers "Xalq so‘zi" and "Narodnoye slovo", was awarded the honorary title of "Honorary Professor."
O‘tkir Rahmat was born on March 15, 1948, in the village of Uzun, Toyloq District, Samarkand Region. He graduated from Samarkand State University and the Tashkent State Institute of Law. He began his career in the press and subsequently served for many years in prominent institutions.
He was awarded the "Shuhrat" (Glory) Medal in 1998 and received the title of "Honored Journalist of Uzbekistan" in 2005.
He is a recipient of the International Cho‘lpon Award and a member of the Writers' Union of Uzbekistan.
He currently serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the newspapers "Xalq so‘zi" and "Narodnoye slovo".
O‘tkir Rahmat’s first poem was published in 1966. More than ten poetry collections by the poet have been published, including "Irmoq" (1988), "Sogʻinch" (1991), "Rayhon hidi" (1993), "Shukrona" (1995), "Oy yogʻdusi" (1996), "Koʻzim qorachugʻi" (1998), "Xayol ifori" (2008), "Yurakdagi qush" (2009), "Xoksor maysa" (2010), and "Dilchiroq" (the first volume of a selected works collection).
